The summer solstice, the peak of the power of the Day has come. In this moment the period of Cancer begins. Solstice is solsticium in Latin, which means that “the Sun is standing quietly” and glowing. It’s a pause, a stop, a rest, a moment of feeling – and of conception. The personality can feel his or her wholeness and also that there is something outside that he or she will have to meet. The “Something” that’s around is the infinite Night, God, Love, the Collective and Society. And so as the day starts to recede into the growing night, the personality is also retreating back, back to the Night, to the Darkness, to the roots, to the origin, to universality. Cancer means re-polarization. The key word is the re-turn here.
The period of Cancer is the time of fertilization. In spiritual terms, the reality is pregnant with God. In nature, buds appear, which will fully sprout nine months later – in the period of Aries.
The Prague Cancer claws open wide between the cathedral of St. Vitus at Gemini and the Strahov cloister at Leo.
The example of examples is the Prague Castle and the cathedral of St. Vitus – the Czech symbol of a return to the roots. It is the place where Prague was founded. It’s the home of Bohemia; it’s the middle point of the Czech national and its spiritual past. It’s the former holy pagan place of sacrifices, the burial site of Bohemian kings and patron saints, the seat of Czech kings and presidents. It’s a symbol of Czech spiritual and historical maturity.
